Market

The glass supply chain is a niche market with three main categories of actors:

• The producers (SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS, AGC, GUARDIAN, SISECAM...) produce flat glass.

• Transformers (GLASSOLUTIONS, INTERNORM, AGC Glass Distribution...) transform flat glass into insulating glass, windows, façades, etc. 

• The installers (VINCI, BOUYGUES...) install the finished products on construction sites.

Due to its physical characteristics, flat glass can only be transported vertically (horizontally, it would break). This requires specific transport on stillages; these stillages, once unloaded at their destination, are brought back to their place of origin: due to this fact, we count an outward transport with a load and a return transport without load in the majority of cases.
